In the wake of the societal "x-tremes" that permeate almost every facet of American culture (and, yes, America has, for better or worse, its own "culture" (however, I am going against my own grain and choosing a less pessemistic perspective on American culture, because, in truth, as I will explain, it may not be the "culture" that you have in mind, and, maybe, virtually invisible to non-xtremists (I once had a professor who wrote to me (on a paper I wrote) that "you writing is quite good, but you use too many parentheticals! (this merely served as encouragement to use them ever more!) I have decided to use the term "extreme" or to those of us who prefer, "x-treme," or for the uber-lazy "xtreme" as a motif for this "blog".
